We're pleased to be at your service.
Our automatic transmission shop is proud to be affiliated with the non-profit organization known as the Automatic Transmission Rebuilder Association (ATRA). Not only do we offer nationwide warranties through ATRA but, as an ATRA member, our automatic transmission repair shop adheres to the service and repair definitions which are a part of the ATRA bylaws and code of ethics. Furthermore, our ATRA warranties are good throughout Canada.
As well as international and local warranties, Chip's Transmissions' exclusive "Fair and Reasonable" local warranty goes above and beyond any of our other warranties and is also "in addition" to our other warranties. If one of our units should ever fail, for any reason, as long as you own your car, we will address your concern through caring and a sense of fair play. For example, if a repair on a transmission or any other repair we make ever fails for a reason that we feel should not have happened, we'll fix it for free. If a failure happens because it's just "one of those things" or was caused by the driver, we'll discuss your options and come to a repair agreement that's fair - for the both of us. You'll never pay full price again. The idea here is to assure our customers that we're here when you need us no matter what the problem is or who's at fault. We instituted this warranty because we believe that we build transmissions better than anyone else in the industry and if one of our units ever has a problem, we want to know why. We account for our loss from any warranty repair as research and development costs and we take our responsibilities seriously. Feel free to call us for details. Also, for those of you that demand more from your transmission, be it through racing, towing, pulling or insane misuse, check out our High Performance Diesel Transmissions.
We also offer a used car pre-purchase inspection service to help you chose a reliable used car BEFORE you spend your hard earned cash or sign any papers. It includes a road test, a NADA value search, and our expert opinion, as we often notice problems that you may overlook. We don't want you to waste your money on a car that wouldn't offer you good service. Appointments are not required unless you desire a more involved and detailed inspection. Our Major Inspection requires more time and a partial dismantling of the vehicle and it is, of course, a chargeable procedure. We have found, however, that a Major Inspection is seldom necessary and that our free inspection does the trick.

Honesty & Integrity still mean something at your business.
Gabriella Sandoval of Newport Tennessee
"I am happy to say every once in a while a person or business comes along and restores my faith that there are competent decent people in the world. Chip's Transmissions and the people I know there have went beyond the call of duty ( and beyond my year warranty) to fix my transmission and vehicle. I would never hesitate to recommend or defend your workmanship and commitment to your clients. Sometimes you actually do get what you pay for, you may pay a little more at Chip's Transmissions, but you get a lot more at Chip's Transmissions. Honesty & Integrity still mean something at your business."
I will recommend you to anybody looking for a Transmission Specialist and you will continue to do my work in the future.
Joe Wilcox of Sevierville Tennessee
"Just a note to say thank you for the quick and dependable service you did on my wife's car. I was referred to you from a friend that also believes in you. I made the appointment to have my transmission filter changed and flushed before I went on a road trip back to Michigan to visit my family, you got me right in like you said you would do. You were good enough to take me back to work and pick me up when the job was done, this was a great service to me. You mentioned that you checked the tire pressure and belts and hoses which also helped put my mind at ease since I did not have the time to do it myself. You also mentioned something that I should keep an eye on about my transmission and when I got back to Michigan I followed up with a GM transmission specialist I had known for years and he agreed to what you had told me. I will recommend you to anybody looking for a Transmission Specialist and you will continue to do my work in the future. "
It is a pleasure to deal with a locally owned shop that will not take advantage of you and even as skeptical as I am with repair shops, I feel I was well taken care of and would return again.
John Jeffries of Maryville Tennessee
"I recently returned back to East TN after serving in the military for 23 years. Unfortunately my truck transmission did not like the drive from Jacksonville Fla to Knoxville, and required repair work. I was skeptical and researched the local shops via online and from other repair shops in the area. All pointed in the direction of "Chips Transmission". So I called and spoke to Phil, and brought my truck in for an estimate. Ended up needing a rebuild. After some recommendations from Phil, we decided on a plan for my needs. They really took the time to work with me and my schedule and I couldn’t be happier. I highly recommend them for great customer service, and good camaraderie, as Chip and his other son both served in the military. GO NAVY! It is a pleasure to deal with a locally owned shop that will not take advantage of you and even as skeptical as I am with repair shops, I feel I was well taken care of and would return again. I would recommend them to anyone. Thanks, I sure appreciate it. "
I can really feel my gears shifting. You did a great job!
Bob Smiddy of Knoxville Tennessee
"I would like to take the opportunity to recommend Chip's Transmissions for your service needs. Chip is a straight forward, down to earth, honest, and reliable individual and he stands behind is work. I only wish I knew Chip long ago! Last year my truck transmission broke and I had my truck towed into the local transmission shop in middel Tennessee. one wee and $2,000 later I was on the road again, but nothing ever felt right. One day when I was out making a pick up for my store, it started to slip again, I had my truck towed in to Chip's Transmissions, and boy was i luck this time. After the major repairs I was back on the road again. I can really feel my gears shifting. You did a great job! you can trust Chip and you will be pleased with your repairs."
Thanks for the great deal on a great transmission job!
Bob Zachar of Bartlett Tennessee
"You know, when you have to buy a transmission 400 miles from home, you're really "under the gun", because you know if a problem develops you sure aren't able to take it back easily. Fortunately for us, such a problem never arose. I don't think it's an accident that your work help up like it has. Quality is not an accident, it's a process that reflects directly on the person at the helm. Unfortunately for you, the distance between us prevents my bragging about the service I got to result in referred customers for you. Believe this; I have told the story about the broken transmission in the Smoky Mountains to a lot of people in Memphis. It usually comes up when someone remarks, "are you still driving that old Chevrolet"? "How many miles on it"? Of course when I tell them, "enough to get to the moon", they want to know if it's the original engine and transmission. On the issue of quality, let me share a quote from FedEx's Fred Smith. He was speaking to a large group of employees and basically said, "Satisfying the customer in this competitive world is not enough, we must DELIGHT them. Because although satisfied customers will probably stay loyal (emphasize probably), delighted customers multiply". Delighting customers means going above and beyond the industry norms, but the payback means the difference between survival and growth or demise. So much for rambling. I'm sure I speak for numerous customers who are also "delighted", but never took the time to say thanks. You know how it is, we're all so busy that we only tend to speak when it's something to complain about. Thanks for the great deal on a great transmission job!"
I was very impressed with the friendly service at Chip's.
Kathy Vale of Sevierville Tennessee
"I was very impressed with the friendly service at Chip's. I know I will come back to Chip's Transmissions with any car/truck problems that we may have. Smitty was friendly and very helpful. Kathy Vale - Sevierville, TN"
I have never been treated so well by a business
Lorie Tackett of Sevierville Tennessee
"I have never been treated so well by a business, walking me thru everything. Taking time on the phone to explain how things are done and why. You truly went above and beyond what the other shops do. Thank you so very much."
Next time I'm going to Chip's Transmissions firs!
Don Watson of Sevierville Tennessee
"On December 12, 2006, I was Christmas shopping in Sevierville and parked at one of the many outlets. Upon returning to my vehicle, I started the engine and placed the vehicle in reverse. As I gently accelerated to back out of the parking space, the vehicle did not respond as the transmission seemed to slip. The transmission suddenly caught and jerked into gear. I tried forward, reverse, and everything worked perfectly. However, my 2003 Ford Explorer does not have a stick to check the level, you must place the vehicle on a lift at a service station. I wanted to make sure the fluid levels was correct to prevent any future problems, so I visited several locations and asked to have the fluid level checked. One location told me they would not check the fluid, but they would hook me up for a diagnostic test for a substantial fee. I explained that the transmission was working fine, and I just wanted to check the fluid as a precaution. They still refused. The other locations were busy or told me they couldn't perform the service check on my transmission. Thinking I was going to have to drive to Knoxville or similar distance, I thought of Chip's Transmission repair shop in Sevierville. I went there and talked to Mr. Phil Sims. They had numerous vehicles being repaired, but Mr. Sims worked me into their schedule in a timely manner. They completed the check on my transmission, and did so at a very fair price. I mistakenly thought of a transmission shop as a location for repairs only. However, they perform repairs and many other functions as well. Many thanks to you Phil, for taking time out of your busy schedule to perform a small job for me. Next time I'm going to Chip's Transmissions first!"
