Can Spark Plugs Last 100,000 Miles?
There have been times when the technicians at Chip's Transmissions have found spark plugs seized in the cylinder heads of some of our Sevierville area customers' vehicles with as little as 60,000 miles on them. The removal of these seized plugs can result in hours of labor by our technicians at Chip's Transmissions. There have been rare occasions when Chip's Transmissions has needed to remove cylinder heads just to get the spark plugs removed. Chip's Transmissions suggests that in order for our customers in the Sevierville are to maintain peak performance for their vehicles, that their spark plugs should not be run longer than 30,000 miles. Chip's Transmissions suggest that consumers should take those 100,000 mile spark plug marketing claims of manufacturers with a grain of salt.
I was very impressed with the friendly service at Chip's.

I would not recommend any other transmission shop other than Chip's Transmissions.
Brenda Painter of Sevierville Tennessee
"My wife and I own a 17 year old truck that has a very rare transmission. After looking for nearly a year for a replacement we called Chip's as a last resort. As it turned out we should have called them first. They knew exactly what we were up against and had a solution in a short time. They were nearly 1/2 the price of what the dealership wanted or any other shop we checked. They also had the best warranty. We have been very pleased with the results. With one week left on the warranty the transmission began to act up a bit and again we took it to Chip's. After a short road trip they could find nothing wrong yet they knew I was not happy with it's performance. They had me to leave it overnight so they could check it again. It turned out to be going bad so again they did a complete rebuild with another warranty and did not cost us one penny. The truck runs like new again! Every time we have gone down to their shop they have made us feel as if we were important to them. Prompt service, very courteous and informative. As a retired ASE certified Master Mechanic, Chip has earned my respect and all of my family's business from now on. I would not recommend any other transmission shop other than Chip's Transmissions. "
I can really feel my gears shifting. You did a great job!

"I would like to take the opportunity to recommend Chip's Transmissions for your service needs. Chip is a straight forward, down to earth, honest, and reliable individual and he stands behind is work. I only wish I knew Chip long ago! Last year my truck transmission broke and I had my truck towed into the local transmission shop in middel Tennessee. one wee and $2,000 later I was on the road again, but nothing ever felt right. One day when I was out making a pick up for my store, it started to slip again, I had my truck towed in to Chip's Transmissions, and boy was i luck this time. After the major repairs I was back on the road again. I can really feel my gears shifting. You did a great job! you can trust Chip and you will be pleased with your repairs."
I can't say enough good things about the level of service and professionalism by ALL of the people at Chips who helped us out in a time of need, not once but twice in the same week!!

David Haas of St. Clair Shores Michigan
"While pulling our 10,000 pound 5th wheel from Michigan to the Smokey Mountains during the 2015 4th of July Holiday we experienced two different problems. The first was we lost first gear about 10 miles from our campground. I found Chips during a google search and used their online service schedule tool to schedule an appointment for Monday morning. Phil contacted me Saturday evening to notify me that I may not be the first appointment due to being closed so his employees could also enjoy the long Holiday weekend, but they would be able to help me as soon as possible Monday morning. Fifteen minutes after my arrival on Monday morning they had diagnosed the problem as a transducer, and begun working on the repair. An hour and a half later I was on my way! Our second problem happened while sight seeing in the Smokey Mountains National Park. The diesel engine in our truck just died it would not stay running more then 5 seconds at a time. I contacted Eric at Chips Transmission, he arranged a tow truck for us, and put me in contact with Terrell at Chips diesel repair. The tow truck arrived within 1 hour and had our truck to Chips prior to closing. The next day Terrell had diagnosed the problem as the fuel transfer pump, and had the repairs made by 11:00am! I can't say enough good things about the level of service and professionalism by ALL of the people at Chips who helped us out in a time of need, not once but twice in the same week!! Thank you, David Haas"
Chip's technicians were highly trained folks. Thanks, Chip's for being there!
Gary Swartz of Sevierville Tennessee
"It was our first experience at Chip's. We called to check their prices and to see how soon we could have our RV checked and serviced. When we got done talking to them we felt better that our RV was getting in the next day for service. So it would be done prior to our trip to Tucson, Arizona. The RV was done ahead of time with needing only a routine service, since nothing was found during their inspection. Everyone there at Chip's was very friendly, like you were family. They answer all questions and told you all that was done on the RV. I have told my friends about Chip's and their excellent service and price. Speaking of price check what it will cost you to take it to your RV repair shop and then check Chip's you will be happy you called them. Chip's also had me done by the next day. RV center-two to three weeks to just get a date to bring it in. Chip's technicians were highly trained folks. Thanks, Chip's for being there!"
Hands down, grade A customer service!
Jeremie Cutter of Vevay Indiana
"Great service! They took the time to listen to what my plans were for the truck and explained what they were going to do and answered all of my questions. I ended up having a problem with the tranny which was no fault of either party and there were no questions asked as to why ... it was just "bring it in and we'll get it fixed". It was fixed fast, too. A day and a half and I was going again. Very good for bringing it in just after noon and getting it back the next evening. Every time I called, someone has always answered or gotten back to me fast (within 1/2 hour) and I probably called 15+ times - from setting up an appointment to having questions to minor problems to getting it picked up. Hands down, grade A customer service! Thank you ALL!"
Thanks for the great deal on a great transmission job!
Bob Zachar of Bartlett Tennessee
"You know, when you have to buy a transmission 400 miles from home, you're really "under the gun", because you know if a problem develops you sure aren't able to take it back easily. Fortunately for us, such a problem never arose. I don't think it's an accident that your work help up like it has. Quality is not an accident, it's a process that reflects directly on the person at the helm. Unfortunately for you, the distance between us prevents my bragging about the service I got to result in referred customers for you. Believe this; I have told the story about the broken transmission in the Smoky Mountains to a lot of people in Memphis. It usually comes up when someone remarks, "are you still driving that old Chevrolet"? "How many miles on it"? Of course when I tell them, "enough to get to the moon", they want to know if it's the original engine and transmission. On the issue of quality, let me share a quote from FedEx's Fred Smith. He was speaking to a large group of employees and basically said, "Satisfying the customer in this competitive world is not enough, we must DELIGHT them. Because although satisfied customers will probably stay loyal (emphasize probably), delighted customers multiply". Delighting customers means going above and beyond the industry norms, but the payback means the difference between survival and growth or demise. So much for rambling. I'm sure I speak for numerous customers who are also "delighted", but never took the time to say thanks. You know how it is, we're all so busy that we only tend to speak when it's something to complain about. Thanks for the great deal on a great transmission job!"
I have never been treated so well by a business
Lorie Tackett of Sevierville Tennessee
"I have never been treated so well by a business, walking me thru everything. Taking time on the phone to explain how things are done and why. You truly went above and beyond what the other shops do. Thank you so very much."
Honesty & Integrity still mean something at your business.
Gabriella Sandoval of Newport Tennessee
"I am happy to say every once in a while a person or business comes along and restores my faith that there are competent decent people in the world. Chip's Transmissions and the people I know there have went beyond the call of duty ( and beyond my year warranty) to fix my transmission and vehicle. I would never hesitate to recommend or defend your workmanship and commitment to your clients. Sometimes you actually do get what you pay for, you may pay a little more at Chip's Transmissions, but you get a lot more at Chip's Transmissions. Honesty & Integrity still mean something at your business."
I brought my knitting and a good book and enjoyed conversation with the office manager and one of the customers. It was a good experience. I definitely recommend Chips.
Virginia Simpson of Seymour Tennessee
"The people who work at Chips are very competent and friendly. They answered all my questions so that I could understand what work was being done. The waiting area is cozy and comfortable. On my latest visit to their shop I had to wait 5 1/2 hours before the work was done. That was not a surprise since that is simply how long that job takes. I brought my knitting and a good book and enjoyed conversation with the office manager and one of the customers. It was a good experience. I definitely recommend Chips. "
